Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its slimmest non-foldable smartphone to date, earlier this week. Soon after the launch, Samsung made fun of iPhones in the very first Galaxy S25 Edge advertisements. Now, HONOR, Huawei’s ex-subsidiary, is having a bit of fun at Samsung’s latest offering. HONOR recently took a jab at the Galaxy S25 Edge’s thinness with the even slimmer Magic V3.

HONOR’s Magic V3 is slimmer at just 4.35mm, but its form factor is different

HONOR has made fun of the Galaxy S25 Edge’s thinness with the Magic V3, but the form factor of both devices is quite different. HONOR’s Magic V3 is a foldable offering that measures 4.35mm around the waist unfolded and a hefty 9.2mm when folded. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a “traditional” phone that measures just 5.8mm at its slimmest point.

In its post on social media, HONOR poked fun at the S25 Edge, saying, “Thin without the catch,” implying that the Magic V3 doesn’t compromise hardware to get a slim design. Samsung has fitted the Galaxy S25 Edge with a 3,900mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Magic V3 comes with a significantly larger 5,150mAh power cell despite a slimmer 4.35mm body. The camera specs of both devices are almost the same

It’s worth mentioning that HONOR neglected to mention that its Magic V3 is quite heavier than the S25 Edge. The former weighs a chunky 226g, while the latter tips the scale at just 163g. Furthermore, the Galaxy S25 Edge offers a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, while the Magic V3 has the old-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Slimmer phones than the S25 Edge are on the way

The battle of the slimmest smartphones is only going to heat up this year. Apple is reportedly preparing the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. If we believe the rumors, the Cupertino giant’s offer will be even slimmer than the Galaxy S25 Edge, with a 5.65mm waistline. Some reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Air could be just 5.5mm at its slimmest point.

While in a different folding form factor, the upcoming HONOR Magic V5 could reduce the overall thickness to below 8.9mm in the folded mode. It will be interesting to see if the company can make it thinner than the 4.21mm thinness-touting OPPO Find N5 in the unfolded mode.
