Google’s Gemini AI has been the driving force behind a lot of Google’s most technologically advanced products over the past couple of years, and the latest addition to it, called Agent Mode and announced at Google I/O today, seeks to simplify tedious tasks for users in a way that most will probably end up loving. Because who doesn’t love making tedious tasks simpler, right?

Agent Mode is a new feature/tool coming to the Gemini App. On a technical level, it’s built to let users delegate complex tasks that they either don’t have time for or simply don’t want to do themselves. In simpler terms, it’s designed to get stuff done for you. On a more specific level, Google says it can do things like find your next apartment on your behalf. Essentially saving you potential hours of research so you can go about doing other things that demand your attention.

The new Agent Mode for Gemini can find you apartment listings and even schedule tours

Most of us have probably searched for apartments at least once in our lives. It’s a pain. While it can be fun moving into a new place, there are at least two constants associated with it that are rather dismal. The actual act of moving everything in, and all the time and effort of finding the apartment.

Agent Mode can’t physically help you move everything in. However, it just might be able to help you find a moving company for the moving part. It can also help find you apartment listings, based on your search criteria. Once it’s found some results that meet your needs, it can go beyond finding you the listings. It can schedule tours for you to check things out.

It can even add those tours to your calendar and then give you side-by-side comparisons of all the results it found for you. That sounds like it would be a pretty nifty tool, as it would alleviate a task that typically takes up a huge chunk of time. This is also one example from a seemingly huge pool of potential complex tasks. So it’s basically your own universal AI assistant.

Google says it’s rolling out soon

While Agent Mode might sound like something you’ll want to get your hands on right away, you’ll have to wait a bit. Google says it’s “coming soon” but hasn’t mentioned anything beyond that. It also won’t be available to all users. Google explicitly states that Agent Mode is available to subscribers. So you’ll need to be subscribed to Gemini Advanced. That being said, it might be worth it. It all depends on how much you might benefit from a little extra help.
