Microsoft-backed G42 partners with Mistral AI to build AI platforms and infrastructures
The collaboration follows broader AI cooperation agreements supported earlier this year by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Abu Dhabi-based tech conglomerate G42 has partnered with French AI startup Mistral AI to jointly develop next-generation AI platforms and infrastructure.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Choose France summit, held at the Palace of Versailles.
The collaboration follows broader AI cooperation agreements supported earlier this year by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron.
In a joint statement, both companies said the partnership reflects a new chapter in cross-regional AI cooperation.
“This partnership exemplifies a new model of AI development: one that balances sovereignty with interoperability, and ambition with accountability. Together with Mistral AI, we’re not just building technology, we’re laying the groundwork for a digitally interdependent future where trust and transparency are non-negotiable,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42.
The joint effort brings together G42’s AI capabilities, through its subsidiaries —Core42, focused on infrastructure, and Inception for solutions development, with Mistral AI’s solutions in open-weight large language models.
Spanning the entire AI value chain, this alliance aims to cover model training, AI agent development, infrastructure, and industry-specific applications across Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South.
Additionally, both companies will explore opportunities to promote each other’s technologies across existing and emerging global markets.
“G42 is a partner who shares our commitment to making powerful, open artificial intelligence accessible to all. This alliance not only accelerates our journey but also ensures that the benefits of AI extend beyond traditional tech hubs,” said Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO, Mistral AI.
As part of the agreement, Mistral will also explore opportunities to collaborate with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi on advanced R&D in foundation models, talent development, and translating research into practical AI solutions.
“We look forward to working with Mistral AI and G42 to advance AI technology in the areas of next-generation foundational models, energy efficiency, and safety,” said Eric Xing, President and University Professor, MBZUAI.
“Our shared values around driving innovation, collaboration, accessibility and inclusion make us ideally suited to drive research advancements in the field of AI to the benefit of all,” he added.
