Galaxy Watch 8 Classic confirmed, rotating bezel returns

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next wave of wearables, and there’s good news for smartwatch fans. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is official, according to a fresh Bluetooth certification. That’s right — Samsung is bringing back the Classic model after skipping it entirely last year.

In 2024, Samsung only released two versions of the Galaxy Watch 7: a standard model and a beefed-up Ultra. Missing from the lineup was the Classic variant, and Samsung never really explained why. But if you were one of the many who missed the rotating bezel, it looks like your patience is about to pay off.

Spotted by Xpertpick, the Bluetooth SIG listing confirms the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic name and its model number (SM-L505U). No specs yet, but a Bluetooth certification usually means a launch is right around the corner. All signs point to Samsung unveiling the Galaxy Watch 8 series in July during its second Unpacked event of the year.

So far, only the standard and Classic models have surfaced. Details about the Ultra version are still missing, but don’t count it out — Samsung might just be playing it close to the chest for now.

The real highlight here? The return of the rotating bezel. While the Watch 7 series used a touch-sensitive bezel (and honestly, it wasn’t the same), the Classic’s physical rotating ring is expected to make a comeback, giving users that satisfying tactile control they’ve been asking for.

What about the regular Galaxy Watch 8?

On the vanilla side, a separate certification revealed that the Galaxy Watch 8 will pack a 435mAh battery. That’s a slight bump compared to the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic’s 425mAh cell. Model numbers SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U are tied to the regular Watch 8, while SM-L505 and SM-L500 are reserved for the Watch 8 Classic.

Expect more leaks and certifications to drop as we get closer to the official event. But for now, it’s safe to say — the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is back, and it’s bringing the bezel with it.
