Samsung could host its second ‘Unpacked’ event of the year in early July. At the event, the company could launch its latest foldable offerings, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Ahead of the official announcement, a handful of details regarding the upcoming Galaxy foldables have already leaked. Some rumors indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, instead of the Exynos 2500.
Now, another report claims that Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset after all. Furthermore, some details regarding the phone’s display and battery capacity have also surfaced. Notably, the new leak has also tipped some information regarding the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, a bigger battery, and a larger outer screen
The Greek website TechManiacs reports that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and is likely more powerful than the company’s in-house Exynos 2500 alternative. In addition, the source claims that Samsung will increase the outer screen’s size to 4 inches, compared to a 3.4-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Furthermore, the report claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be slimmer than its predecessor, but there’s no word regarding the exact dimensions at the moment. The new model will retain the 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide lens of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature a larger 4,300mAh battery, a 7.5% boost from the 4,000mAh battery in the Z Flip 6, according to the source.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be significantly slimmer than the Z Fold 6
The source also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure 8.2mm around the waist when folded. It will be significantly slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which has a waistline of 12.2mm when folded. The report also claims that Samsung will increase the size of the folding display to 8 inches, up from a 7.6-inch screen on the Z Fold 6.
Additionally, the source suggests the Z Fold 7 might offer a new 200MP main lens, up from 50MP on the Z Fold 6. The same 12MP ultra-wide shooter and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera from last year’s model will accompany the main camera.
Lastly, the report claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will cost around €100 (~$113) more than the Z Fold 6. That said, we advise you to take the leak regarding the price with a pinch of salt for now. As earlier reports have suggested that the Z Fold 7 will cost the same as its predecessor at the launch.
