A discussion on Five Killer Habits by Shree Krishna Seelam.

' Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached." This is a famous quote by Swami Vivekananda who was an eminent personality in the history of India better known for his religious teachings, his philosophy and the founder of Ramkrishna mission which is situated in Belur near the Ganges. This quote by Swami Vivekananda provides a greater definition of achieving success through small and minute definitions. Since, childhood we are taught to achieve greater things in life in order to live life to the fullest. The most common scenario in probably every household especially of Indian origin is making the child mould into an individual who is made to understand that studying and achieving good grades is what defines success. Just tell me one thing how many Indian parents drag example of sport's personality to define success? what they just do is provide example of someone who has achieved a good grade in an examination. Why should success always be in these defined boundaries? Famous and renowned author Sree Krishna Seelam in his book ' Be a Rebel: Five Killer Habits' has provided us with an personified approach to achieve success. We are well aware of success but not sure of achieving it. In this book the author has described it in an intricate manner describing it in minute details. The definition of success differs from people to people and so is motivation. Motivation is a total and not a piece meal , a human cannot be motivated in parts. The first and the foremost thing to be done to achieve success is ' Waking up Early'. Since childhood we are well aware of the quote ' Early to bed , Early to rise , Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.' According to several studies and researches, individuals who wake up early are the one who do better in life. When you sleep early and wake up early there's a motivation in oneself that I have already started earlier, this motivation is what drives the person to achieve their desired goals. India has developed in various sectors and is striving to achieve something greater as well in other fields whereas other countries especially the U.S, Japan they are all achieving greater heights and we are still lagging behind in certain areas. Why is this thing happening? The biggest reason behind this our sleep schedule. How many individuals in India sleep at nine at night and wake up at four in the morning? Hardly two to three percent maybe. The organisational structure of 9 to 5 jobs and different working conditions push people to do work till late night. This pushes people to death as well. According to reports, adults especially above thirty individuals are more prone to heart attacks and depression due to this unhinged lifestyle. Successful individuals are way more interested in learning new skills and focusing on the same through a disciplined manner and this is what sets them apart from others. Somewhere in this era of social media we have forgotten to live as a normal human being rather we live as a puppet being controlled by the system of networks to do things in life. If a survey regarding volunteering activities takes place there will be probably ten candidates out of hundred among the youngsters who contribute to social work. Why is this thing happening? The only reason behind this is we have forgot to humanise. How many individuals on a bus or maybe a metro leave their seats to an elderly person? Probably one or two people leave. We human beings forget that someday we the youngsters will also be an elderly person and that same might happen to us because we are all in the cycle of life and things repeat itself while completing several revolutions. Life has simply become a rat race where people are running to achieve things and those small mintue objects in life are being lost and missed every moment. Grandparents play a significant role in formulating our lives since the day we are on this planet. But unfortunately people do not even care for them. There are so many old age homes filled with the sad cries of elderly people and hardly anyone bothers about them. Volunteering does not always mean doing social work , volunteering also means spending time with grandparents. The twenty first century India is a bit different from what it used to be. The green planet is soon turning into a grey one creating a suffocating environment with smoke and fly ashes. The graph of pollution is at the verge of increasing and the condition is worsening but we are barely worried about it. What matters the most is 'money' to us. These minute things are not taken care of by us regarding our nature and we forget the fact that if the nature does not persists we will not be here making wonders and success. Planting saplings must be ensured aa an important task to save 'Mother Earth'. We need to remember this that ' Charity begins at home'. This small volunteering activities contribute to the overall development of an individual be it physical, or mental dexterity. The term ' Dromomani

Somewhere in this era of social media we have forgotten to live as a normal human being rather we live as a puppet being controlled by the system of networks to do things in life. The term ' Dromomaniac' is derived from the Greek Word ' Dromos' and 'Maniac' which sums up together to mean that a Dromomaniac is one who is an travel enthusiast. Travelling and exploring different places around the world helps people to acquire different skills to survive in this world of the fittest. The ancient belief of kings are highlighted in this book who ensured that their son who succeeded the throne have the right exposure and skills to become the future eligible king. A solo journey is something that makes an individual way more interested in learning new ways of adapting to it's surroundings. In examinations we are the ones who need to solve the problems we are provided with and similarly 'Life' is a bigger version of examination with an untold syllabus and it is the duty of us to solve it in a better way. When we travel alone we are exposed to different kinds of people who differ from one another in almost every aspect and they are the one teaching us lessons for every sphere of life. Teaching is not something that is enclosed in a rectangular shaped object that is the book rather it is something that is acquired by the surrounding areas as well. The evolution of man from the Dryopthiecus to the Homo Sapiens provides us with an idea about the ability of man to evolve into better human beings. The knuckle-walkers tried their level best to cope up with every minute things and this is why the next being that is Australopithecus were a bit modified. The cranial capacity of these beings were seen to be increasing from generation to generation and they were learning new skills and this was possible just because of their desire to learn and acquire new expertise. At the end of the out of the box thinking, learning is something that moulds the perfect individual for tomorrow. Learning the whole book and writing the exam and then securing the first position is not always the correct way, learning involves to think deeper, check on the mistakes committed and correct the same. A life lesson is learned from this things rather than being surrounded in a four walled room. This automatically develops a different perspective , a different taste in every aspects of life. Famous Chinese traveller Fa-Hien travelled all the way from China to India on his own. Due to his journey we are able to learn and know the valuable insights of ancient Indian History and Buddhist scriptures and articles. Another famous traveller Ibn Battuta through his documentaries has provided deep insights into the cultural practices, the thinkings, the lives of the people of that particular era which paves a path to know more of that era. In order to live a perfect life such things are essential. If such scholars and travellers had nor travelled the world would America be discovered? Or would we ever come to know the Earth is round? I hope the answer to it is 'No'.

Jane Austen is considered as one of the greatest author of all times. Her works are considered even after hundreds of years. Inspite of being an author of the Romantic age, her way of thinking was way ahead of her time. Jane Austen once said, " The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid." This quote by her explores the different dimensions of how reading books contribute to the overall development of an individual. These days the scenarios are a bit different from what it used to be years ago. Reading books apart from reading academic books are not supported by many parents just for the sake of losing their good grades. Reading fictions or non fictions does not affect individuals grades as such it helps in the development of a child in a more explicit manner. For example, The Elizabethan Dramas were written with a particular motive and always had a moral impression at the last to provide a lesson to people. In the play ' Macbeth' by the 'Bard of Avon' Willam Shakespeare we get to know what unchecked ambition and greed can do to people and even push them to achieve greater things through unfair means. The character of Macbeth provides us with an idea on how things can go against our will and destroy us in every possible manner. It is said by many ' History repeats itself' in order to avoid being in the same position that are ancestors were in the past we need to derive lessons from their mistakes. Books does not always help in providing lessons but also help in providing valuable informations about our past. The evolution of languages has helped us interpret the fact of how humans were or what the social practices comprised of in the recent past. In the history of English literature, in the Old English Period the Norman Conquest throws a different light into the era. The languages prevalent at the time of King Alfred is way more difficult and different from what it is today. Literature is not only a subject but a huge plethora of learning opportunities and knowledge which provides readers with the opportunity to put on the shoes of the characters and live their lives and think and interpret in a different manner as well. Reading helps to mould an individual into a person who is a perfect blend of all good qualities.

The current news headlines of all the newspapers these days is either about political instability or may be some serious religious propaganda. The supreme power the Lord is considered by many in different forms and that's how several religions are divided into. At the end ' God is always one'. One of the best ways to manipulate to someone is by dragging in religion. India is considered as a democratic country but we fail to keep the term intact. The propaganda that we are facing these days are extremely disturbing. The religious leaders or the preachers these days are throwing a different light in religious matters which further develops communal tension within sects of people. Religion and politics must not be intertwined with each other both are different aspects and must be dealt with that manner. Religion is something that is not chosen by a child rather the family in which he or she takes birth provides him with the religion he will follow. Nothing is in the hands of people just like if we are born poor it is not our fault. Being manipulated by someone is pretty easy if the other person is not that intellectually smart or uplifted. The education system is detoriating day by day and what we are fighting for is politics. The rectangular shaped object is the foremost reason of this. Social media platforms are filled with the so called influential quotes which rather creates communal tension among people rather than spreading information and common folks are the so called dumb ones who are easily influenced as they are not provided with the right education and exposure. The ' Why' question provides people with the best set of answers. If every single thing be it a good act or a heinous act is questioned to the point it will help solve things. In the name of religion and politics misinterpreted informations are provided to people and then two sets of the so called knowledgeable intellects fight among themselves, thinking it to be the right attitude. When the most crucial moment comes then these intellects are no where to be found. How wonderful! If today we had questioned every bit of things maybe the world would have been a better place to live in.

This book helps us to be an individual with an overall personality development from all aspects. The author has beautiful woven different perspectives into five habits which makes an individual perfect for the society.
