Ever wanted to build your own Android widget, but you’re unsure how? Generally speaking, it’s not too difficult. More often than not, you don’t even need to build your own. There are tons of pre-built widgets out there. However, if there’s something specific you want a widget to do, you’re in luck because in the latest Tasker beta, the app is harnessing the power of AI to help you build your widgets using prompts.
Using AI to build widgets
If you’ve ever used generative AI before, like ChatGPT, Canva, or Midjourney, the process is the same. All you need to do is pull up the assistant, type in what you want, and you’re good to go. Depending on the widget you’re trying to make, it might prompt you for additional details. However, the entire process appears to be pretty seamless and straightforward.
I’ve used several widget apps in the past, and depending on the app, creating your own widget can be a bit confusing. There are so many options to choose from that it can feel overwhelming. However, the new AI widgets from Tasker certainly make the process a lot easier and beginner-friendly.
Please note that the AI generator is only in the beta version of the app. If you’re taking part in the beta, make sure that you’re using Tasker version 6.5.5 beta.
