Samsung Made the Galaxy S25 Edge’s Vibration Motor Smaller and Better

With the slimmer frame of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung had to make some changes. Of course, we all know about the smaller battery and the elimination of the telephoto cameras. But another change is the vibrations motor.
Samsung is using the new ESA0815 module, which is just 2.73mm thin. It’s thinner than the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s vibration motor, and somehow offers better vibrations.
The speakers on the Galaxy S25 Edge are the same size as those on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which are 1.75mm. We’ll learn more about what Samsung had to do, and what new components were used in the Galaxy S25 Edge once it gets torn down.
The Galaxy S25 Edge could be a stepping stone for foldable phones
One of the main complaints we have with foldable devices, particularly for Samsung, is the thickness. The Galaxy Z Fold series is still rather thick, especially when compared to the HONOR Magic V3 and OPPO Find N5, both of which are under 4.5mm when unfolded.
Samsung, to their credit, has made the Galaxy Z Fold thinner every year since it first launched. But it hasn’t taken that major step like some of its competitors. But the Galaxy S25 Edge could help them get there.
With Samsung needing to use thinner parts for the Galaxy S25 Edge, it can help Samsung find more components that are thinner and use them in upcoming foldable devices. And with partners making these thinner components for foldable devices and now these thin phones, that would provide even more options for foldables.
We’ve now seen thinner vibration motors, thinner speakers, and even thinner camera modules from OPPO. As well as super-thin silicon-carbon batteries. If Samsung uses these in upcoming Edge and Fold devices, that could really turn the competition on its head.
