It brought a new experimental feature for Search called “AI Mode.” While Google has yet to launch the AI Mode for everyone, Microsoft has quietly rolled out “Copilot Search” on Bing.

Don’t get confused by the wording here; both AI Mode and Copilot Search largely do the same thing. In late February, Windows Latest exclusively reported that Microsoft was testing an AI-powered search called “Copilot Search” on Bing. Now, after a little over a month, the same publication has confirmed that Microsoft has started rolling out Copilot Search on Bing.

For the uninitiated, Microsoft Copilot AI Search has a dedicated UI that hides the “blue links” that appear when you search for something on Bing. Instead, you’ll see an AI summary of your question or search query, alongside a list of sources that sits right below it.

Windows Latest further notes that Microsoft’s Copilot Search is now visible as the first search filter on Bing. What’s interesting is that the tech giant has kept it even ahead of the full Copilot experience. Microsoft reportedly reached the outlet via an email and said, “We’re continuing to experiment and iterate with generative search, which we began rolling out last year. At this point, we don’t have anything further to share.”

Expect the rollout to happen in a phased manner

Although the outlet claims that Copilot Search on Bing is rolling out for everyone, it’s not the case. At the time of writing, we can still see the Copilot Search shortcut inside the “more” menu. The rapid rollout of Copilot Search tells that Microsoft wants to stay ahead of Google in the AI race. Only time will tell when Google will roll out the “AI Mode.” Now that Copilot Search is live on Bing, we expect the wait shouldn’t be long.
