Meta expands India VP's role to lead Southeast Asia markets

Meta's Vice President for India, Sandhya Devanathan, will now lead the company's operations in Southeast Asia, expanding her role to cover key markets such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Devanathan, who took over Meta India in November 2022, oversees the company's growth and strategy across its largest market, with more than a billion monthly users on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

She takes on the expanded role as Dan Neary, Meta’s longtime head for Asia-Pacific, steps down after 12 years. Benjamin Joe is set to take over as regional vice president in July 2025.

The move comes as part of Meta’s broader leadership reshuffle in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Following Ben's appointment, I am excited also to announce that I will take on additional responsibilities to lead our business in both India and Southeast Asia. I am thankful to Dan Neary for his leadership in steering the Asia Pacific business and confident that going ahead, we will continue to drive growth and innovation for our valued partners along with Ben,” said Devanathan in a LinkedIn post.

“What remains a constant is our unwavering focus on serving you – our partners – and continuing to invest in products to help drive growth,” she added.

Devanathan joined Meta in 2016 and has over two decades of experience in technology, banking, and payments, including prior stints at Standard Chartered and Citi. Before taking charge of Meta India, she led the company’s Asia-Pacific gaming business.
