CD Projekt Red‘s upcoming RPG The Witcher 4 is surely one of the more anticipated titles for the gaming community. Unfortunately, someone has attempted to take advantage of that excitement by sending invites for a fake beta test to players.

CD Projekt Red warns players about The Witcher 4 scam

According to CD Projekt Red in a post on X , The Witcher 4 beta invites are a scam. The company is not currently inviting players to any playtest because it simply does not exist.

“Recently, we’ve been getting reports from some community members that they’ve been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — this is a scam,” says DC Projekt Red’s statement.

“We’ve been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down,” continues the statement. “That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using.”

CD Projekt Red does confirm that if it decides to organize a beta test, it will be announced on one of its social channels or websites.

CD Projekt Red revealed the first trailer for The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024. The cinematic revealed players will follow Geralt of Rivia’s protégé Ciri instead of the white wolf.

The most recent mainline game in the beloved RPG series is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which launched in 2015. When the game was released, it was met with favorable reception. According to the review aggregate website Metacritic, it received an average score of 92 across 78 critic reviews. In our review, we gave it a 10 out of 10, calling it “an incredible masterpiece” and “one of the best games of this generation.”
