How to auto delete OTP messages in Google Messages

One-Time Password (OTP) messages have become quite common among apps and service providers. It allows them to validate the identity of the authorized user of the app/service like social media and financial services. These messages include a four or six-digit code that can be used only once and within a limited time.

Since OTP messages are meant to be used only once, you do not need to keep them stored. You can delete those messages to declutter your Google Messages inbox. The best part is that you do not need to delete them manually. Here is how you can automatically delete OTP messages in Google Messages.

Auto-Delete OTP Messages in Google Messages

  1. Launch the Google Messages app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the user profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Choose Message Settings from the list of options.
  4. Select Message Organization on the next page.
  5. Turn on the toggle for the Auto-delete OTPs after 24 hours option.

This option will automatically delete all OTP messages after 24 hours of their arrival. Unfortunately, the app does not offer a way to automatically delete OTPs soon after you use them or much quicker than 24 hours.
