G.Skill unveils lightning-fast DDR5 128GB RAM and 64GB RAM kits
GSkill Trident Z5 Royal Neo Series

Summary: G.Skill has announced two new memory kits aimed at enthusiast-level PC users and gamers, touting extremely high-capacity and incredibly fast speeds. One memory kit is comprised of 128GB, capable of reaching speeds of DDR5-8000, while the other comes in at 64GB with possible speeds of DDR5-9000.

G.Skill has just unveiled what it says is the world’s first 128GB DDR5 RAM that can run at speeds of 8000, as well as DDR5-9000 RAM in a 64GB capacity, which are from the Trident Z5 Royal Neo series and Trident Z5 RGB series, respectively. Both new options of high-capacity RAM are reportedly geared towards enthusiast-level users looking for a solution for their gaming PC. Specifically, those looking for the fastest RAM they can get their hands on.

By offering two options that reach speeds in this upper tier, users can prioritize whether they want blistering speed or a higher capacity. As Tom’s Hardware notes, both memory kits are likely split into two sticks of RAM. So, for the 128GB modules, two sticks of 64GB RAM, and for the 64GB modules, two sticks of 32GB RAM.

G.Skill hasn’t announced pricing for the new Trident Z5 Royal Neo or Trident Z5 RGB kits

While G.Skill has announced the new memory kits in both series, it has yet to announce pricing or availability of either. The company also doesn’t hint at when it might confirm prices. Or when and where you can buy these new memory kits. That being said, G.Skill does offer other memory kits with the same speeds, at least in the Trident Z5 Royal Neo series.

You can currently buy the Trident Z5 Royal Neo kit with a 48GB capacity (2x 24GB) with the 8000 speeds. You’re obviously getting much less RAM to work with, though. The key point to pay attention to with this particular RAM is the cost. At 48GB this memory kit will run you $249.99. So you can look at that as a baseline for how much the 128GB kit is probably going to cost. It’s also worth noting that the 8000 speeds are reachable when the RAM is overclocked, according to G.Skill. So these aren’t speeds you can probably reach without the overclocking.

Designed for both AMD and Intel

Each of these new kits is designed either for AMD or Intel, depending on which kit you’re looking at. G.Skill’s new Trident Z5 Royal Neo series running at 8000 speeds is intended for use with AMD’s AM5 platform. Meanwhile, the Trident Z5 RGB series 64GB kits running at 9000 speeds are intended for use with Intel’s Arrowlake platform. So which platform you use will dictate which of these kits is going to be suitable for use with your system.

Although the cost of both kits is likely to be high, enthusiast-level gamers tend to spend a lot on their rigs already. So the pricing is probably going to fit in line with what they will spend.
