Google Photos now lets you quickly edit before sharing an image

Google continues to improve its Google Photos application on mobile devices. The search engine giant recently introduced a new HDR tool to breathe new life into your old pics, apart from upgrading the faces feature. Now, the company is rolling out a new feature for Google Photos that lets you quickly edit a photo at the last moment, right before sharing.

Google Photos is getting a server-side update with the ‘Quick Edit’ feature

Google has rolled out the new editing feature in the Google Photos app via a server-side update. It is currently available only for a limited number of users, but the company should start rolling it out to a wider audience in the coming days.

Several Google Photos users have reported that they are getting a new “Quick Edit” page while sharing a photo. Sharing images in Google Photos earlier has long been simple. If you want to share an image, you can hit the share button while viewing it, and it will show you a list of contacts and apps through which to send the photo.

The new option lets you crop or enhance photos

However, now the new “Quick Edit” page appears before sending the image. Here you can crop the photo. There’s also an enhance button, allowing Google Photos to edit for a general edit. Apart from these two, there aren’t any additional options to make more changes to an image, like light and saturation sliders or any of Google’s artificial intelligence-powered functions.

The new Google Photos feature isn’t a big deal, but it will frustrate some users when sharing several photos. However, the good thing here is that you can disable quick edit, which will make sharing photos simple again. You toggle the switch to turn off the feature using the settings cog at the top of the app.
