This time around, we’re comparing two devices from Samsung and Apple. It’s a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Design
As you can see, these two phones are entirely different design-wise. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has sharp corners, a flat display, and slightly rounded sides, while its top and bottom sides are flat. The iPhone 15 Pro has rounded corners, a flat display, and a flat frame all around the device. Samsung’s handset includes a centered display camera hole up top, and thin, uniform bezels around the display. The bezels are uniform on the iPhone 15 Pro too, but the device has a pill-shaped cutout at the top, the so-called Dynamic Island.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a power/lock key on the right-hand side, along with its volume up and down buttons. The iPhone 15 Pro includes a power/lock key on the right, while the rest is on the left. The volume rocker keys are there, along with an Action button. Samsung handset also has an S Pen stylus, which is docked at the bottom of the device, in the bottom-left corner, to be exact.
If you take a look at their back sides, you’ll notice even more differences. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has five protrusions on the back, four of which are for the phone’s cameras. They’re all separate protrusions, by the way. The iPhone 15 Pro has a single camera island on the back, with three cameras on the inside. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a frame made out of titanium, and a glass back. The same goes for the iPhone 15 Pro, actually.
When it comes to size comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro is a lot smaller. It’s a lot shorter, narrower, and slightly thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It also weighs over 40 grams less than Samsung’s handset. Both devices offer an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Display
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 6.8-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. That panel is flat, and it supports an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). IT also supports HDR10+ content, while its brightness goes up to 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio here is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. This display is protected by the Gorilla Armor from Corning.
The iPhone 15 Pro, on the flip side, has a 6.1-inch 2556 x 1179 LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display. This panel is flat, and it has an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. HDR10 content is supported, as is Dolby Vision. The peak brightness here is 2,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The Ceramic Shield glass protects this display.
Both of these displays are really good, as you’d expect. They’re both vivid and have great viewing angles. The blacks are as deep as you’d expect too, while the touch response is good as well. Both displays are also extremely sharp. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s does get brighter in theory, but the brightness is kind of similar in practice. Where the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s panel does have the edge is in fighting off glare, thanks to the Gorilla Armor. It’s a night-and-day difference, actually.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Performance
Samsung handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, a 4nm chip. That is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while UFS 4.0 flash storage is also included here. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, is fueled by the Apple A17 Pro chip, which is a 3nm processor. That chip is backed by 8GB of RAM and NVMe flash storage. Neither phone offers storage expansion.
The performance of both of these phones is great. There’s really not much to complain about. Both of them are very snappy and fluid during day-to-day use, lag is not a part of the equation. They’re equally good at consuming multimedia, browsing, messaging, image processing, and so on. They can handle anything you throw at them, not much has changed since they were announced.
In terms of gaming, the iPhone 15 Pro did have some initial issues, but Apple sorted those out via updates. Now, they’re both really good in that regard as well. Both of these phones can run the most demanding titles from their respective app stores without a problem. The heat should not be an issue at all. At least it was not an issue for us.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Battery
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery on the inside. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 3,274mAh battery. That is a jarring difference, but don’t let it fool you. Apple’s iPhones usually have notably smaller battery packs than their Android competition, mainly because of iOS. On top of that, these two phones are not in the same size category, the iPhone 15 Pro is much smaller.
In our testing, both of these smartphones have proven to be great in terms of battery life. The Galaxy S24 Ultra does have the edge, but not by that much. The iPhone 15 Pro is actually one of the best battery life smartphones in its size category, that’s for sure. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a 6.1-inch smartphone that offers better battery life. Both smartphones can last for a full day, with ease, even if you’re a power user.
When it comes to charging, the Galaxy S24 Ultra supports 45W wired, 15W wireless (Qi), and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, supports 20W wired (though it realistically goes up to 22-23W), 15W wireless (MagSafe & Qi2), and 4.5W reverse wired charging. Neither of these two smartphones includes a charger in the retail box, so keep that in mind.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has four cameras on the back, compared to three on the iPhone 15 Pro. Samsung’s handset includes a 200-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch sensor size), along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV). A 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.52-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom) is also included, as is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.52-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 48-megapixel main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor size), a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 120-degree FoV), and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.5-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom). So, as you can see, rather different hardware is included here.
In terms of general photography, the iPhone 15 Pro leans more on warmer colors compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Both phones tend to brighten up darker scenes, though the iPhone 15 Pro more than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. When it comes to their periscope telephoto units, it all depends on what you’re shooting and what sort of zoom you’re using. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is generally better up to 5x, which is where the iPhone 15 Pro takes over.
Neither of the two ultrawide cameras is spectacular, but they do the job. They also manage to keep up with the color tone of the main camera. That’s always good to see.
Audio
There are stereo speakers included on both of these phones. The ones on the Galaxy S24 Ultra are a bit louder, though. That is especially noticeable in a direct comparison. Both smartphones do offer good quality audio output, though.
You will need to use a dongle if you want to connect your wired headphones on either phone. Why? Well, because neither one of them has an audio jack. They both do offer Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless audio connectivity, though.
