All Of The Cool And Weird Guns In Borderlands 4 (So Far)
Rootin', tootin', and shootin'...Guns are the highlight of any Borderlands adventure, and the recent Borderlands 4 State of Play gave us our deepest look yet at some of the weapons we'll be bringing along on our Kairos adventure. We're rounding up the coolest and weirdest guns we've seen so far, from giant gatling guns to guns where the gun is also the bullet, and we'll continue to update as Gearbox releases more information about the game. The State of Play also introduced two of the four Vault Hunters in Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier, we learned what exploration and movement will look like, and we got a glimpse at how the "looter" part of "looter-shooter" will work this time around.Borderlands 4 was scheduled to release on September 23, but just before the State of Play aired, Gearbox announced that the release date would be moved up by two weeks, to September 12. It will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC .(NOTE: Gun names marked with an asterisk (*) are unofficial, but we think the names we came up with suit them nicely.) Big Rocket Launcher Boy*We don't know the name of this explosive little fella, but it was on-screen for only two seconds and it fired, by our count, at least 12 rockets. That's a rate of fire we can get behind. Lightning Bomb Gun*This gun shoots lightning bombs of some kind, and here it turns a bandit into beef stew. We hope this is called "Zeus" or "Thor" or something like that. Acid Grenade Launcher*This little blue beauty fires acidic grenades, melting any unsuspecting enemies in its path. Mr. Big*Again, we don't have official names here, but this massive monster of a gun fires off big explosive rounds, so we're calling it "Mr. Big." Freddy Force Fields*This gun seems to trap multiple enemies in force fields, then with one flick of the trigger, each force fields collapses and turns the enemies into mush. Good ol' Freddy*. Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts*Sometimes you fire a gun, sometimes the entire gun is the projectile. Look at the form on that throw too; Vex knows her fundamentals. Abracadaboom!*We like this one because it just appears out of thin air, with a really cool digital cube effect. It's fun to watch. Clint Eastwood*This Jakobs-made pistol is an old-school cowboy six-shooter. We have a soft spot for the classics. Infinifire*The amount of bullets that come out of this Vladof gun without needing to reload is wild. It looks endless! Usain Boltgun*This gun sprouts mechanical legs and runs toward enemies while firing. Look at it go, the little scamp! Look at its little legs! Mighty Morphin' Power Rifle*This gun starts as a normal rifle, but then suddenly it transforms into a light machine gun of sorts with a completely different grip. We wonder how many other guns will transform like this. R-Bee-Gees*Is this thing firing exploding disco balls? What's going on here? The Shockmaster*It looks like this gun fires bullets that explode into circular shockwaves that deal extra damage or something. It's a really neat effect.
