Sephiroth Gets His Masamune Sword in New FFVII Ever Crisis Chapter

Square Enix announced that we’ll finally get to see how Sephiroth got the sword Masamune in a Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis update to the FFVII The First Soldier storyline. Everything comes up in Episode 2, Chapter 3, which will launch in-game on April 16, 2025. However, given that it appears at 7pm PT/10pm ET, it’s possible most of us won’t actually play and see it until April 17, 2025.  To go along with the update, there’s a new teaser trailer on social media. It only consists of clips from the chapter’s story scenes. In it, Sephiroth is heading into ruins with Alissa, Angeal, and Bachman. Both Alissa and Angeal seem cautious about the endeavor, hinting at the danger. Meanwhile, a fight we’ll face is hinted at by Bachman, as he notes the group needs to defeat monsters sealed in statues to access the sword. Things close out with a cinematic of Sephiroth approaching his trademark sword in FFVII The First Soldier. Here’s the full FFVII Ever Crisis teaser: https://twitter.com/FFVII_EC_EN/status/1910890629774921757 There’s no word yet on what sorts of banners we might see accompany this update. However, some Easter and spring-themed equipment like Lucia’s Dealer’s Tailcoat, her Rifle of the Hunt, Cid’s Dark Flyer, and his Dragoon Lance are available on a banner until April 30, 2025. We also saw Loveless-inspired items at the start of 2025. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available on PCs and mobile devices, and the FFVII The First Soldier chapter involving Sephiroth and Masamune debuts on April 16, 2025.
