This time around, we’re pitting the most powerful smartphone from Samsung versus last year’s flagship from Google. In other words, this is a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro specs comparison. We’ve already compared the Galaxy S25 Ultra vs the Pixel 9 Pro XL, in case you’re interested in checking that out. This comparison could also be rather interesting, and some of you are probably wondering whether to jump from the Pixel 8 Pro to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
We will first list the specs of both of these smartphones, as we usually do when it comes to comparisons. Following that, we’ll be comparing their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. There are a lot of differences between these phones, by the way, so… let’s kick things off, shall we?

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro: Design
Differentiating these two phones based on their designs is very easy, as they look quite different. The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with sharper corners than the Pixel 8 Pro, while it also has visibly thinner bezels around the display. Its display camera hole, which is centered up top, is also smaller than the one on the Pixel 8 Pro. Both displays are flat, though.
Both phones also have their physical buttons on the right-hand side, but the positioning is different. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a power/lock key below the volume up and down buttons. It’s the other way around on the Pixel 8 Pro. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also has the S Pen stylus tucked away in the bottom-left corner of the phone. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a flat frame all around, while that’s not the case with the Pixel 8 Pro. its frame is slightly curved.
When we flip them around, you’ll notice vastly different camera setups. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has five separate protrusions, four of which are reserved for cameras. The Pixel 8 Pro has a camera visor on the back, which connects to both left and right side of the frame, and spans across the phone’s back. There are three cameras included inside of that camera bar.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has a larger display, but it’s almost the same height. It is a bit wider, though, and a bit thinner too. Samsung’s flagship is also 5 grams heavier in comparison. It is made out of titanium and glass, while Google used aluminum and glass. Both smartphones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro: Display
There is a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display included on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The resolution here is 3120 x 1440, and the display is flat. That panel also supports HDR10+ content and offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The peak brightness here is 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 92%, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. This display is protected by Gorilla Armor 2.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro also has a flat display. It’s a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED panel with an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). This panel has a resolution of 2992 x 1344, and it supports HDR10+ content. The peak brightness here is 2,400 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 87%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning protects this panel.
For the most part, these two displays are on the same playing field. They’re both vivid and more than sharp enough. They also offer great viewing angles and good touch response. The blacks are also as deep as you’d expect them to be, on both displays. The brightness is also not a problem on either end. The thing is, the Galaxy S25 Ultra does have one considerable advantage. Its display fights off glare like a champ, it’s not even close. The Gorilla Armor 2 is the reason why.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro: Performance
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. That is Qualcomm’s most powerful chip at the moment, and an overclocked variant of the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It’s a 3nm processor. Samsung pairs that with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside of this smartphone. The company also uses UFS 4.0 flash storage.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, is fueled by the Google Tensor G3 processor. It’s a 4nm chip. Google has opted to use 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside of this phone, along with UFS 3.1 flash storage. Neither smartphone supports storage expansion, by the way, in case you were wondering.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is the more powerful smartphone here. Not only does it include a newer chip, but a chip that is considerably more powerful in comparison. It also uses faster storage. When compared directly with the Pixel 8 Pro, it is noticeably snappier during day-to-day tasks. Don’t get us wrong, the Pixel 8 Pro is plenty fast, but you can notice the difference if you compare them directly. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is also the better choice when it comes to gaming, though you’ll notice a different only with high-end games. Both phones do heat up a bit when gaming, but overheating was not an issue during our use.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro: Battery
The Galaxy S25 Ultra includes a 5,000mAh battery on the inside. The Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050mAh battery. Both of those are Li-Ion batteries, in case you’re wondering. Even though they have rather similar battery capacities, their battery life is not similar at all. The Galaxy S25 Ultra storms ahead, easily. We’ve managed to cross the 9-hour screen-on time mark on that phone a number of times, and even reached the 10-hour mark a couple of times. It’s a road warrior in terms of battery life. Your mileage may vary, though, of course.
The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, will offer several screen-on time hours left, at least that was our experience. The phone doesn’t offer bad battery life, but it’s not great in that regard, not even close. For most people, it’ll do a good job, but don’t expect power user battery life out of the Pixel 8 Pro. Its modem could have something to do with it, as that was an issue in the past. Either way, if you’re looking for the best battery life between the two phones, go for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra supports 45W wired, 15W wireless (Qi2 Ready), and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Google Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, supports 30W wired, 23W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. Neither phone comes with a charger. It takes about an hour for the Galaxy S25 Ultra to charge with an ideal charger, while the Pixel 8 Pro is a bit slower. It takes over an hour and 20 minutes for it to get to 100%.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 8 Pro: Cameras
There are four cameras included on the back of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. A 200-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch sensor size) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide snapper (120-degree FoV). There is also a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.52-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom) and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.52-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
The Google Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, has three cameras on its back. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor size) is backed by a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.0-inch sensor size, 126-degree FoV), and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
There is a lot of difference in the end products. The Pixel 8 Pro provides more contrasty images, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra leans more towards warmer color tones. Both phones are capable of providing very sharp images, though the Galaxy S25 Ultra still tends to oversaturate from time to time. Its images look closer to real life, most of the time, but only because the Pixel 8 Pro adopts that processed Pixel look.
Both ultrawide cameras are quite capable, while the same goes for periscope telephoto units. They’re very capable at high-zoom levels, even though we’d give the advantage to the Galaxy S25 Ultra with such shots. The telephoto camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra is not particularly impressive, especially in low light.
Audio
Both of these phones feature stereo speakers. The ones on the Galaxy S25 Ultra are louder, though. That’s something you’ll notice if you listen to them side-by-side. The ones on the Pixel 8 Pro are plenty loud, though. The sound quality is good from both sets of speakers.
There is no audio jack on either phone. You can utilize their Type-C ports for wired audio connections, though. The Galaxy S25 Ultra supports Bluetooth 5.4, while the Pixel 8 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.3.
