Summary: Instagram has launched the Edits video editing app for Android and iOS users. The app is free to download and use. It has tons of editing features that will help you create awesome social-media-ready videos. Let’s not forget that future updates to the app will include additional features, including Keyframes, Modify, and more.
In January, Instagram announced a new video editing app called Edits. The announcement of a direct rival to the CapCut app came the same day TikTok briefly went dark in the US. While Instagram initially planned to launch the app for users in the following month, it got delayed for some unknown reason. Well, it’s finally here. Starting today, Instagram’s Edits video editing app is now available to download and use on Android and iOS.
Instagram has finally launched the Edits app for Android and iOS users
As one would expect, the Edits app comes with a clean, mobile-friendly interface. You can arrange and adjust clips on a timeline, add trending audio and captions to the clips, and share videos directly on Instagram and Facebook. What’s nice is that you can also capture videos right from the Edits app.
Not to forget, the app also lets you export watermark-free video if you want to share it on other platforms. If you want professional editing experience, the green screen feature is also available in the app. You can easily replace and edit backgrounds using the same to make your video more appealing to the audience.
There are some AI-powered tools that allow creating animated clips using static images. You can also isolate specific people or objects in a video, ensuring precision tracking to make your video look great. Let’s not forget that the Edits app also includes an Inspiration tab. This is where you can find Reels with trending audio, which inspires you to get your next video ready.
There’s also an Ideas tab where you can save ideas for a video you want to publish in the future. Interestingly, the app also offers insights to help you figure out the type of video that works with your audience. The Edits app is free to use and is available to download from the Google Play Store and App Store.
The app will include multiple features down the line
The company wants to supercharge the Edits app with a few new features down the line. For example, it is working on a feature called “Keyframes.” As noted by Instagram, this feature will allow users to pinpoint “exact moments to animate the position, rotation, and scale” of their video clips.
The next feature in the works is “Modify,” which uses AI to alter the look and feel of your videos. The upcoming update to the app might also include a tool that allows for easier collaboration. You can also expect to find new fonts, transitions, effects, filters, sound effects, music, and text animations.
