Summary: Google has reportedly started rolling out the Android Auto 14.2 update. If the update hasn’t reached you yet, don’t worry, it will soon. As per usual, the update doesn’t bring new features, rather, it fixes a few reported bugs. With the release of the stable update, Google has also removed a few code strings that hinted at alleged support for navigation on smart glasses.

Google is often lauded by users for constantly pushing updates to its apps and services. Sometimes these updates tend to introduce new features, and sometimes they are just for the sake of bug fixes. When Google released Android Auto 14 late last month, it dropped hints about replacing Google Assistant with Gemini. In less than a month of pushing that update, Google is now reportedly rolling out Android Auto 14.2 for all users.

Google has started rolling out the Android Auto 14.2 update

The stable Android Auto 14.2 update is now rolling out to users after the debut of the beta earlier this month. If you are not seeing this update already, don’t worry, the update should be widely available for all users in a few days or weeks. If you are hoping for any new features, sadly, there aren’t any. The Android Auto 14.2 update mainly fixes some known bugs and comes with a few tweaks.

That said, 9to5Google has found a few changes in the code strings of the Android Auto app since the beta release. The outlet, in its previous report, noted that the beta release had some code strings that mentioned the word “Glasses.”

Google was reportedly hinting at some sort of glasses integration for navigation within Android Auto. A code string had the phrase, “Start navigation to launch Glasses.” While the suspicion around the functionality remains, Google has reportedly removed that string from the stable Android Auto 14.2 update.

A new update could bring some AC features

It’s not the first time we have heard something big is coming for Android Auto. An APK teardown report from last month hinted that Android Auto could also get tons of AC features. The spotted code strings of the Android Auto app hinted at features like recirculation and windshield defrosting. No one is entirely sure when Google will release these features. If it does, these features will surely be welcomed by vehicle owners.
