Google’s Gemini AI Is Coming to Android XR – Because Someone Has to Show Apple How It’s Done

We expect for Android XR to be a big topic at Google I/O next week; however, ahead of Google I/O at The Android Show, Google did announce that it is bringing Gemini to Android XR.
For the uninitiated, Android XR is a new platform that Google is building with Samsung and a few other partners. This is a platform for virtual reality and augmented reality – often referred to as Extended Reality, or XR for short. Samsung has already shown off its own headset for Android XR, and Google has shown off a pair of AR glasses on the platform.
Google does mention that Samsung’s Project Moohan will launch later this year.
Gemini makes planning a breeze in Android XR
One of the examples that Google is providing about Android XR is the fact that you can plan a vacation by surrounding yourself with videos, maps, and local tips. Making it easy to create an itinerary for your upcoming vacation.
Of course, Gemini can also do way more. But with Android XR, think of it as Gemini Live on steroids.
It’s an exciting time to be a virtual reality and augmented reality fan. Especially after Apple’s spectacular failure which was called Vision Pro. Now Apple is working on AI to catch up, and will end up falling behind in XR.
Google hasn’t said when Gemini will launch on Android XR, but with the first devices launching later this year, we’d expect it to be available later this year as well. As Gemini is likely to be a huge centerpiece to the Android XR experience.
